"The Jazz Corner of the World"

My plans continue to fall into place. I was having trouble sleeping so I fired up Pandora and found my way to the Duke Ellington station. It had been a long time since I had listened to any jazz, I forgot how much I enjoy it. Fast forward to the next day and I decided to listen to more and came across some Charlie Parker, who is great. There was a jazz club in NYC named for him called Birdland, it's current location is in Manhattan and has been added to my must do list. After playing so much of that kind of music in high school, this is a big deal for me. I can't wait.

I'm going to be Pricelining a Boston hotel on Friday, I'll post with my results then. Wish me luck, I think I'm going to stay across the river in Cambridge. I can rub elbows with the brains from Harvard and MIT, maybe run into Will Hunting. Until next time. . .

Opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.

Well, no turning back now. I bought my plane tickets and reserved my spot on the Amtrak. For the record JetBlue is awesome. $170 round trip and that's flying into Boston and out of NYC. I also found a cool little resource, Tripit. You forward your travel confirmations to them and they organize your itinerary. They have an app for your phone so you have your trip info on you all the time, cool stuff.

When I decided to take this little trip I was having a hard time hammering down a date. I wanted to make sure I had enough time to save up the money but I didn't want to wait so long as to lose my gumption. Last week I got an email informing me of Dave Matthews Band's fall tour and how they would be playing Madison Square Garden. That pretty well settled the date. I'm gonna be out of town from November 6th to the 14th.

Needless to say (I'm gonna say it anyway), I'm ecstatic at the prospect of seeing my absolute favorite band in one of the most famous arenas in the world. It going to be great way to spend my last night in the city. I'm getting close to twenty DMB concerts and they never get old.

I'm trying to put together a little Vacay Bucket list, any suggestions would be welcomed. Also trying to come up with a name for the whole thing. I was thinking Ridin' Solo, any ideas? I guess things are looking up, if even just the littlest bit, and I feel like there are still positive things I have going for me. Until next time.

"Don't wait for the storm to pass, learn to dance in the rain."

Long story short, my life has been turned on it's head. The ones among you who know me understand what I'm going through. This blog is not about what has happened, but rather what comes next.  This exercise is about moving forward and rediscovering what it is I want for my life. At this point I can not answer that question.

So few things recently have been in my control and as a result I threw my hands up, Tuesday, September 31, and decided I had to take ownership of something. I put together a trip for myself, I will be heading to Boston and New York City in November. I am excited for the possibilities and anxious about the prospect of going it alone. I hope to use this blog as way of bring some of you along with me and to keep a record of my travels. If any of you have suggestions feel free to post them in the comment section.

I would like to thank all of you who have been there for me. It is humbling the support I have received from so many of you. I am grateful for my family and friends. It is with your help that I am able move forward and plan such an exciting trip. Thank you all.
